One April morning I left the Mexico border and walked north on the Pacific Crest Path. For 5 months I hiked by means of the California desert, the snows of the Sierra Nevada, and the Cascade Mountains of Oregon and Washington. My purpose was to achieve an epic problem: to hike 2,650 miles and attain Canada earlier than the October snows.
It was an unforgettable summer season of sunrises, river crossings, and excessive mountain passes; of bodily and psychological challenges and peaceable wilderness camps underneath the celebrities. Within the fall colours of September I reached the border of Canada. That is the story of my thru-hike.
